Editorial Policy

New York Art Life is an independent New York art magazine. This page explains how we choose, write, check and correct the stories we publish.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are made by our editorial team, led by Editor-in-Chief Max A. Sciarra. Galleries, artists, advertisers and partners do not decide what we cover or what we write. Our marketing and partnerships team works separately from the newsroom.

What We Cover and How We Choose

We focus on the New York art scene: exhibitions in galleries and museums, artists, curators, art fairs, the art market, and design and fashion connected to the arts. We choose stories based on their artistic and cultural relevance for our readers, with special attention to emerging artists and to shows across all five boroughs.

Accuracy and Fact-Checking

Whenever possible, we visit exhibitions in person and speak directly with artists, curators and galleries. Before publication we verify names, titles, dates, addresses and quotes with original sources, such as the gallery, the museum or the artist. Reviews and opinion pieces reflect the view of their author and are clearly signed.

Press Releases

We receive many press releases and invitations. We do not republish them word for word as editorial content: we use them as a starting point and add our own reporting and context. When we publish an official announcement, it is clearly labeled as such.

Sponsored Content and Advertising

Sponsored articles and paid partnerships are always clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Partner Content”. Advertising never influences our reviews or editorial coverage.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Our writers may use AI tools to support research, transcription, translation or proofreading. Every article is written, edited and checked by a member of our team, who is responsible for its content. We do not publish articles generated automatically without human review.

We use images provided by galleries, museums and artists with proper credit, or photographs taken by our team. If you believe an image has been used incorrectly, please contact us and we will review it promptly.

Corrections

If we make a mistake, we correct it as quickly as possible. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article, with the date of the update. To report an error, write to ciao@nyartlife.com with the article link and the correction.
