What’s So Funny About a Comedy Club?

Ever wonder what happens in a comedy club? Think of a usual day going to your office with a coffee in your hand and suddenly you see a red door saying Comedy Theater! Yes, that’s New York City where you get curious all the time to know the behind the story. But you don’t have time to check because you are already late for the office.

For our entertainment, almost all of us have the subscription of the so-called ‘’Happy Channel’’ in our home but deep inside what we crave is something real in the shape of a physical form. And that is when the idea of a comedy club pops in. It definitely feels a little bit different when someone in front of you actually performs. At the same time, you don’t have the option to change the channel (unfortunately). Jokes about politics, mimicking of your favorite movie stars, satirical humor of contemporary issues everything makes the weekend exciting if you find the right spot.

The history of the comedy club, comedy theater, and stand-up comedy act is still a new concept in New York. The oldest stand-up comedy club ’’Comic Strip Live’’ opened in the late 70s, became a legacy,  and produced successful present days comedians such as Jimmy Fallon. New York City has so many options and it is difficult to determine the best one for a weekend hangout with friends and family. Most of the time the comedy club operates inside of a nightclub, bar, hotel, or restaurant where you can enjoy food, and drinks. The duration of a standard session is between 1.5 to 2 hours and starts after 6 pm. So, make your reservation in advance and make sure to laugh.
